Grants
Funding Community Impact
Each spring, the Junior League of San Antonio awards cash grants to organizations to help fund special projects or initiatives that align with our mission. Priority is given to organizations that the Junior League of San Antonio currently partners with or has recently served with in a volunteer capacity. The purpose of these grants is to provide our partners with additional financial assistance so they may better meet the needs of our community.
2026 Grant Recipients
Be Kind San Antonio Inc. / Snack Pak 4 Kids SA
The Mission: Snack Pak 4 Kids San Antonio was founded to address a critical and often unseen need: childhood hunger on weekends. While many students rely on free or reduced-price meals during the school week, weekends can leave them without consistent access to food. This organization bridges that gap by providing nutritious, child-friendly Snack Paks. Today, they serve more than 4,000 students across 54 campuses in Bexar County.
How the Grant Helps
Grant funding will support the expansion of SP4KSA’s program in Harlandale ISD, where approximately 87% of students are economically disadvantaged. This expansion will add approximately 618 students, bringing the total served in the district to about 1,000 elementary students annually.
ABC of Southwest Texas
The Mission: The mission of ABC of Southwest Texas is to provide specialized services, education, and compassionate support that empower and strengthen children with autism and developmental differences. Children with autism face additional risks during emergencies due to communication barriers and sensory sensitivities.
How the Grant Helps
Funding will provide Fire Safety Kits to approximately 16 families of children with autism. Kits include fire blankets, extinguishers, detectors, first-aid kits, childproofing tools, and ID tags with digital registration, paired with emergency preparedness literature and safety education.
Seton Home
The Mission: Founded in the late 1970s, Seton Home supports pregnant teenagers in crisis who wish to keep and parent their child. The organization helps to break the cycle of abuse and poverty through education and comprehensive support services.
How the Grant Helps
The grant will fund the Summer Enrichment Project, providing educational experiences and normalcy activities for teen mothers and their babies. Programming includes practical skills training for self-sufficiency, mom-and-baby bonding activities, and teen-girl-only community outings.
The Children’s Shelter
The Mission: For 125 years, The Children’s Shelter has supported vulnerable children and families in Bexar County. They provide evidence-based prevention and intervention services that break cycles of abuse, violence, and trauma through emergency shelters, foster care, mental health counseling, and family strengthening initiatives.
How the Grant Helps
Funding will support food and snacks for 300 children in Lamb Camp, their emergency shelter program. This ensures that children in crisis who arrive during the night or at non-meal hours have immediate access to comforting and necessary nourishment.
San Antonio Book Festival
The Mission: The San Antonio Book Festival brings readers and writers together to celebrate books, ideas, libraries, and literary culture. Their “Authors in Schools” program connects award-winning writers with underserved schools in Bexar County, offering presentations and free signed books to students.
How the Grant Helps
The JLSA grant will allow SABF to purchase nearly 600 new books for youth in Title I schools. This addresses the urgent community need to improve literacy rates and expand equitable access to literature in neighborhoods facing economic barriers.
Girls on the Run of Bexar County
The Mission: Girls on the Run offers positive, youth development programs for 8- to 12-year-old girls. Their curricula emphasize character development, self-esteem, perseverance, teamwork, and healthy habits through running-based activities, culminating in a community service project.
How the Grant Helps
Grant funds will be used for a new suite of GOTR curricula with a core theme of confidence. Building confidence at this age has a positive effect on mental health and encourages girls to challenge stereotypes and pursue their passions.
